“Shift in Perspective” – Solo Exhibitions by Paula Peacock & Suzanne Frazier

“Shift in Perspective” displays each artist’s navigation towards spiritual evolution starting with Paula Peacock’s paintings and mixed media sculptures arising out of her grief on the death of her son, then shifting to paintings by Suzanne Frazier exploring the opening of consciousness in the morning light. The Main Gallery is divided to give a dedicated space for each artist to display an entire body of work.

“Altered Soul” – Solo Exhibition by Paula Peacock

“Altered Soul”, a solo exhibition by Paula Peacock, displays a visual journal of an artists' lonely passage through grief, heartache, and depression in search for peace after the death of her son. Realizing that each painting takes her closer towards healing, she looks deep within herself and learns that each moment is a lesson in growth and love. She shares her awareness that spiritual evolution arrives with a higher understanding of why we are here and why we leave.

Using her own life's experiences as her source of inspiration, Paula Peacock portrays ordinary objects with emotion, a touch of elegance, and a provocative glow with inter-plays of light. Working primarily in oils, in the manner of realism, her work reflects a combination of layered symbolism in the style of the classical table top still life involving subject matters with results that are thought provoking yet peaceful to the eye and mind.

The paintings and mix media sculptures displayed in this exhibit have won numerous awards including First Place in the 'All Colorado' exhibit in Littleton. She has exhibited in art museums and galleries in the US and her work can be found in many collections throughout the US, Canada, Italy, Denmark, and England. Her work can be viewed at:   https://www.paulapeacock.com

“Spirit Light” – Solo Exhibition by Suzanne Frazier

For Suzanne Frazier, art is a vehicle for exploring the exterior and interior landscape of our existence on this planet. Each painting reflects her emotional response to the morning light that offers up spiritual solace and peace. Through this work, Suzanne explores the inspiration of the morning light to provide a meditative experience towards spiritual evolution.

Comprised of twelve oil paintings, Suzanne’s body of work explores a contemplative view of the Colorado landscape. Each painting lives in its own place and time, free from a particular association to a specific landscape. She shares her contemplation inviting the viewer to a new way of seeing.

Suzanne Frazier combines a BFA degree in Studio Arts from the University of Colorado with a BA degree in Philosophy from Lake Erie College to create a philosophical/meditative approach to art making. In 2015, Suzanne published the book, Contemplative Art describing her meditative painting process and definition for contemplative art. Her work is in private collections in the United States, Canada, Japan and Europe. Her work can be viewed at https://suzannefrazierartist.com

D'art Gallery: "AndrĂ  Tutto Bene" Member Exhibition

D'art Gallery

900 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204

Exhibition Dates:  5/15/20 - 6/14/20

“AndrĂ  Tutto Bene” translated as “Everything is Going To Be All Right”.  The phrase has gone viral all over Italy and is spreading out across the world to share a message of hope.

The lyrics of the song AndrĂ  Tutto Bene are:

Cities are vacant like they've never been
Everyone's scared of what blows in the wind
The plans we all had, have all gone down the drain
Our lives were postponed, but I know in the end we'll be
Alright
We stand together as one

(Left)  "Rocky Mountain Sunset", 24" x 24"
(Center) "Rocky Mountain Sunrise", 24" x 24"
(Right) "Rocky Mountain On Top Of The World", 24: x 24"

I have three paintings in this exhibition from my Rocky Mountain Series:  "Rocky Mountain Sunset", "Rocky Mountain Sunrise" and "Rocky Mountain On Top of the World".  I picked these three paintings because they were painted about "new beginnings" and at this time on our planet we have a chance to make new beginnings.

Boketto Exhibition Closes Early

Because of the coronavirus, the Boketto Exhibition closed on Saturday, March 14.

With deep appreciation to everyone who visited D'art Gallery during the exhibition of work by Lisa Calzavara and Suzanne Frazier, the exhibitions "Shadow's Breath" and "Boketto" have closed a week early due to the Coronavirus health situation. Thank you to everyone who was able to see the show the 3 previous weeks.

In the best interest of both the artists and the visitors to D'art Gallery, the gallery will remain closed until further notice. We are hoping that by May 21, we can open the doors to the gallery.

If things improve, then D'art Gallery will open sooner.

Art is a vehicle for exploring the exterior and interior landscape of our existence on this planet.
Viewing the world from a meditative practice, I call myself a Contemplative Artist. To me, contemplative art is the product of creative expression rising from the pure joy of creating, grounded in a meditative connection to the radiance and perfection of spirit known only through one’s experience of being fully human.
During a contemplative experience one does not observe anything specific but rather a feeling emerges from the meditation. Likewise, I choose to create work that does not refer to any specific location or time. I choose instead to invite the viewer into my meditation of my collected emotional responses from residing for forty-seven years in Colorado.
Each painting lives in its own place and time. It breathes on it’s own, free from a particular association, reflecting back to the viewer a new way of seeing. The painting changes as the viewer breathes in detail, subtleties of shape, and nuance of color. Then the painting breathes back to the viewer. A relationship ensues.
The painting process begins with heavy application of oil paint with a pallet knife to create texture. After the layer of thick paint dries and hardens, I begin the next layer, painting the contemplated image. Color and texture are the predominate features of my work, especially creating unique hues to reveal a particular mood. After applying untold layers of paint to create unique colors, my interpretation of my heart-centered experience arrives on the canvas.
I have titled several of the paintings in this exhibition, “Boketto”, a Japanese word for the concept of gazing vacantly into the distance without thinking. Using images that are familiar from the environment to express in a non-verbal manner my life experience, I invite you to gaze, without labels, into my shared contemplation.
I am delighted to be able to show this body of work that I created over five years at D'art Gallery in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe during the month of March 2020. The gallery space is perfect to exhibit the twelve large paintings.
Here is the schedule of events for the exhibition:
