Exhibition Statement:

Emptiness has been a word with many meanings, aspects and feelings from different viewpoints, in various cultures. Cambridge vocabulary uses “not sincere”, “sad feeling”, and “a state with no emotion or purpose” for emptiness, while in Buddhism it is called “the true nature of things and events.”

Lao Tzu in Tao Te Ching artistically quotes: “We mold clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that makes the vessel useful.”

While a western view of emptiness often seems to be negative, in some eastern philosophies, it represents a state of stillness and placidity to see through the illusion, which represents the “mirror of the universe” and the “pure mind”.

My painting, "Boketto 12", is included in the Biafarin Exhibition Catalogue for the online "Emptiness" Exhibition.....

Exhibition Dates:  10/6/2022 - 1/3/2023

Artists Reception: 10/19/2022      6 - 8 pm

I am delighted to be exhibiting "Sunrise After The Storm", a oil painting in the Spirit Light Series, at the Lone Tree Art Expo.

Art is a vehicle for exploring the exterior and interior landscape of our existence on this planet. "After the Storm" is one of twelve paintings, in “Spirit Light” series. This painting is an exploration of the morning light just before sunrise when stillness permeates the landscape. In many religious traditions, sunrise is a time of prayer and quiet reflection. A time of transformation. I share my contemplation.

“D’art3 - D'art Gallery 3rd Anniversary Members Exhibition”

The exhibition marks the Third Anniversary for the gallery. D’art Gallery opened at 900 Santa Fe Drive on August 1, 2019 featuring 18 contemporary artists. The gallery has thrived during the past three years in spite of COVID, economic downturns, and changes in the Art District on Santa Fe.

The Artists of D’art Gallery have manifested their original intention of providing a contemporary, progressive, professional art exhibition space. Each member exhibits in a shared solo show once a year and participates in three group exhibitions annually. Last year, with the addition of Gallery East, D’art Gallery has offered exhibition space to artists in the area to exhibit in the Art District on Santa.

The gallery continues to persist in providing an exhibition space where members enjoy sharing their creativity, commitment and dedication to the art making process. This is a community of artists who support each other in their creative exploration and evolution of their personal expression.

With deep gratitude and appreciation for the support D’art received during the past three years, gallery members chose “D’art3 - D'art Gallery 3rd Anniversary Members Exhibition” for the title of the exhibition to celebrate how the gallery has grown into a “gallery to the third power”.

At D’art Gallery, art appreciators will discover a wide variety of artistic techniques, styles and points of view to create a unique collection of contemporary artwork. The work exhibited by members highlights each artist’s personal expression using various media; ceramics, painting, print-making, photography, sculpture and mixed media.

The exhibition features eighteen Denver area contemporary artists exhibiting diverse and thought provoking art: Steve Austin, Terrel Bailey, Jaime Belkind-Gerson, Carol Bivins, Lisa Calzavara, Barbara DeMarlie, Suzanne Frazier, James Holmes, Ashton Lacy Jones, Tara Kelley-Cruz, Carrie MaKenna, Morgan McKenna, Emily Oldak, Lydia Riegle, Kim Roberts, Jean Smith, Vicky Smith and Cheri Vilona.

The work of participating artists can be viewed at https://dartgallery.org

History Of D’art Gallery

Eight months after opening, COVID lockdown hit and the gallery responded to the Governor’s and Denver Mayor’s requests to close all businesses that were not essential. The March exhibition was closed on March 17, 2020.  Immediately, the following Monday, D’art Gallery repositioned a “moveable exhibition wall” so that work hung on that wall, plus the two front walls could be viewed from the front door and set up a group show. The exhibition, “D’art Gallery Walk Up Window Members Exhibition” ran from 3/23/20 - 5/15/20.

In April when online galleries seemed to be the only answer for shuttered galleries, D’art Gallery, in addition to the “Walk Up Window” Exhibition, added an online exhibition,

“Through the Portal”, featuring members work on the D’art Gallery webpage from 4/27/20 - 5/15/20.

On May 15, 2020, D’art Gallery was able to open the doors to the gallery exhibition space again but to a limited number of people (10 or less). The members repositioned the moveable wall and set up a second group exhibition, "Andrà Tutto Bene”, translated from the Italian as “Everything is Going To Be All Right”. From 5/15/20 - 6/14/20, D’art opened with limited hours.

On 6/15/20 the gallery continued the limited hours the gallery was open but resumed the exhibition schedule that had been interrupted by the COVID restrictions. The gallery moved forward, against all odds, and reorganized the exhibition schedule to include all the artists whose exhibitions had been interrupted by the COVID restrictions. Since then the gallery has been able to maintain a regular exhibition schedule of member solo exhibitions and group exhibitions.

Podcast Interview on Art Unknown Store

Here's a podcast link to an interview with Jim Wills, the owner of Art Unknown Store, where my artwork is featured on his clothing line.

"You have to live every single day to the fullest because you don't know when you are going to leave." - Suzanne Frazier
When life presents opportunities, it is the most aware among us that seize and create. After a lifetime of service and leadership in multiple industries, Suzanne Frazier rediscovered her artistic roots. A few classes in art led to a full blown fine art degree- 20 years after she finished college the first time.
With a huge shift in her life, Suzanne embraced her artistic calling and went on to perfect what she calls her contemplative process- creating art through a meditative awakening and a contemplation of one's connectedness to the world around them. She began to teach classes in her unique style and to this day enjoys sharing her wisdom with other seekers and creatives. This interview is a deep dive into the contemplative art form and we are grateful for Suzanne sharing her lifetime of experiences and wisdom.
Finally- we are super thrilled to have Suzanne Frazier as an Art Unknown Store artist with an incredibly textured and brilliant collection of art.
