2018 Summer Vacation

I took some time off and drove to Whitefish Montana to spend a week at Dancing Spirit Ranch at an "Art of Presence" retreat hosted by Grammy Winner pianist Peter Kater. I had the most lovely time with a group of inspiring individuals. The food was vegan, so I could eat everything that was offered without fear of food allergies.

The landscape was inspiring. The music was astounding. The group was supportive.

Rocky Mountain Spring Storm is part of my Rocky Mountain Series created from my emotional response from residing for forty-five years in Colorado. I used a pallet knife to create the texture and to paint most of the canvas.

I don't usually paint a portrait

BUT

this face showed up when I was painting a landscape.

The eyes were so beautiful I couldn't continue painting a landscape but left the face on the canvas.

I was asked to exhibit this unusual painting in the current Arts Longmont exhibition.

"Pensive"

He reminds me of all the philosophers 

I read in college and graduate school. 

He looks like Plato?
