The offices had space for my eight foot cloud paintings, "Sky Raga".

I am so delighted to be teaching an art workshop at the Creative Life Center. Earlier this year, I gave a short presentation on Contemplative Art as part of their Open House.

Now I have the opportunity to share my contemplative approach to experiencing the Labyrinth as a creative process on paper using oil pastels. You are invited to join me for a day of art making and exploration centered around the concept: Labyrinth. No art experience is necessary.  Expressing yourself through contemplative drawing provides a way to look at your life experience in a spontaneous way.

Here's a description of what we will be doing:

This contemplative art workshop will give you time for personal exploration into the Labyrinth. We will look at this sacred design, that can be traced back 4,000 years, from multiple points-of-view.  There are many types of labyrinths and you will have the opportunity to find the design that fits your personal inquiry.

In the morning session, we will look at the Labyrinth as a symbol of spiritual journey and you will be introduced to the concept of art as a metaphor for the contemplative experience. In the afternoon session, we will explore the Labyrinth as a mandala.  During the workshop there will be time to reflect on what aspects of the labyrinth journey are important to you as you give expression through art to your inner wanderings and discoveries.

We will take time for lunch. For those interested, we will drive to a nearby restaurant and eat as a group or you are welcome have lunch on your own.  The cost for lunch is not included in the workshop fee.

Materials Fee:  $12.00 (Includes a drawing board, box of 36 oil pastels and drawing paper that you get to take home with you. This fee is payable to me at the beginning of the workshop.)

I have three "highly textured" flower paintings in this show. 

Living sustainably, I refuse to put my left-over paint from my pallet in the trash or down the drain, instead,
I put the paint on a canvas. I don't plan ahead, I just put the paint on the canvas in clumps. Then after I
have enough "clumps", I paint the entire canvas gray, and start to look for the image or images made
by the clumps. 

I've painted five paintings using this technique, and three of them are on display at the Muse Galley.
